The
son of a veterinarian in South Dakota, Dr. Baus came to this area
after graduating from Kansas State University in 1981. Dr. Baus had the
opportunity to mentor with Dr. Howard Raven [the founder of our
practice dating back to the 1940’s] in the first several years of his
career.
In addition to an interest in lameness, Dr. Baus has a particular
interest in foot related problems especially laminitis cases.
Dr. Baus has spoken at the local and national level on a wide range of
equine related topics including issues of practice management. He has
contributed to numerous publications as well, lending advice on equine
health and management of the equine practice. In addition to
maintaining a busy practice schedule, Dr. Baus is the Managing Partner
for Fairfield Equine Associates.
In years past, Dr. Baus enjoyed horse showing and fox hunting. He
received his colors with Fairfield County Hounds in 1989. Other hobbies
include auto racing and gardening. Dr. Baus has volunteered for several
programs in the area including Big Brothers Big Sisters and Pegasus, a
therapeutic riding program.
