Preventive Care for Equines at Post University

Waterbury, Connecticut...Dr. Claudia Sandoval from Fairfield Equine Associates will give a presentation on deworming and immunizing horses on Friday, March 20, 2009 at Post University. There are many factors to consider when formulating a good preventive care plan and current thinking on the topic is updated frequently. She will address the issue of deworming and parasite resistance which is of special interest to her and is becoming an increasingly widespread problem.

Fairfield Equine Associates is a top notch referral center in Newtown, Connecticut. The center has received national and international recognition for excellence in the care and treatment of the sport horse and has served the United States Equestrian Team at multiple Olympic Games and other international events during the past four decades.

This lecture follows a very engaging presentation by Bill Davis of Blue Seal Feeds on February 6th. He presented information on the ingredients of a high-quality feed product, how to recognize a quality feed by reading the label, and factors to consider in making good feeding choices for horses of all types. Blue Seal's focus on excellence in feed product design was evident throughout Mr. Davis' talk. The Quiz the Experts series is prepared by the Post University Equine Resource Committee, to provide topical and up to date information on subjects related to the ownership, care, and training of horses and other equines.

Proceeds from the Quiz the Experts Lecture series benefit equine scholarships and the Equine Program at Post. The remaining date in this series will be an expert panel discussion on Spring Conditioning, scheduled for Friday April 3, 2009. These lectures are now being held in the Traurig Library Board Room on Post University's Waterbury campus. Tickets are available for the price of $10 at the door, and admission is free to Post students.
